TOM CARVER


Bio:  

Tom Carver is the author of Where The Hell Have You Been? a bestselling account of his father Richard Carver’s adventures during WWII in Italy as the step-son of Field Marshall Montgomery. He is a writer and former foreign correspondent with the BBC. He lived with the mujihadeen during the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan, walked with the Kurds over the mountains of Iraq in the first Gulf war and reported on the Rwandan genocide and the Bosnian war. 

He was latterly the BBC's Washington Correspondent and continues to live in Washington with his family, where he is Vice President for Communications and Strategy at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.  He is the step-grandson of Field Marshal Montgomery and served briefly as an officer in the British Army.
